The Daily Planet is a Metropolis-based broadsheet newspaper that circulates throughout the United States and the rest of the world.
History[]
Foundation[]
The Daily Planet was founded in 1871, and it started publishing newspapers.
Moving to Metropolis[]
In 1952, the Daily Planet moved into a new skyscraper in downtown Metropolis, ousting the previous occupant Daily Star in a muscle flexing war between media moguls. In the end, Daily Planet co-owner Morgan Edge carried the day.
Discovering Scout Ship 0344[]
One of the newspapers top reporters Lois Lane was sent to Ellesmere Island where the US Military was operating and covering up something. Lois followed a Arctic Cargo worker through a long straight tunnel to the object the Military found in the ice and discovered an alien spaceship buried. A floating robot attacked Lois who was saved by the super powered worker who piloted the ship away and left Lois behind.
Editor in Chief Perry White refused to print Lois' story because of the outlandish story of aliens and super powered beings saying that it will never happen. Lois leaked her story to internet blogger Glen Woodburn and the Planet's publishers told Perry to sue Lois.
Metropolis Invasion[]
Lois' story proved true however as General Zod and a small group of Kryptonians arrived on Earth in search of Kal-El, who had been living on Earth. Zod ultimately began to attack the Earth with his Black Zero ship and a World Engine by terraforming it into a new Krypton. Perry evacuated the Planet's staff and he Steve Lombard and Jenny Jurwich got caught in the crossfire. The terraforming was ended by Kal-El who destroyed the World Engine and the aliens were later sent back to the Phantom Zone. Zod remained however and was ultimately killed by Kal-El and the Planet and the world got back to some normality.
