Lieutenant General Swanwick is a high ranking officer in the United States Army. Holding the position of head of United States Northern Command, he is tasked with preventing any possible threats towards the United States and her interests.
History
General Swanwick was contacted when an unidentified object entered Earth's orbit. Not long after, a message was simultaneously sent across the planet by General Zod in search of a member of his race by the name of "Kal-El". Superman made contact at a military base shortly after the broadcast. He submitted to them and handed himself into custody on the condition that Lois Lane was freed from the FBI. Superman and Lois talked in an interrogation room where Swanwick questioned Superman on his motives before handing him over to General Zod's sub-commander Faora who requested that Lois accompany them into space.
When two ships left the craft and moved through into Earth's atmosphere, Swanwick ordered a strike to take them down to Colonel Nathan Hardy. After an engagement with Zod's forces in Smallville, Superman and Lois brought Superman's infant spaceship telling Swanwick of Jor-El's plan of how to suck General Zod and his forces into the Phantom Zone. Swanwick agreed to the plan and organized such an attack.
Long after Superman defeated General Zod and his forces in Metropolis, Swanwick organised drones to attempt to track Superman's whereabouts and discover where he lives. Whilst being driven out of an air base, Superman threw such a drone in front of his vehicle telling the General to stop trying to spy on him and that he won't succeed in it. Superman then reassures to Swanwick that he will never pose a threat to America.
