Patricia Lea "Patty" Jenkins (July 23, 1971) is an American film director and writer. Jenkins, a native of California, grew up around the world and lived in 15 different countries before she was 6 and 4 different states before college. She attended the AFI Conservatory. She graduated from The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art in 1993. The most famous film she has directed to date is Monster, a docudrama about Aileen Wuornos. On July 14, 2011, she received an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series for the pilot of The Killing. She received two nominations for the 2012 DGA Awards for Outstanding Directorial Achievement, one for "Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Dramatic Series" for The Killing and "Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Movies for Television/Mini-Series" for Five. On January 28, 2012, she won the DGA award for Outstanding Directorial Achievement for a Dramatic Series for the pilot of The Killing.

In April 2015, it was revealed that Jenkins will direct Wonder Woman, the fourth movie in the DC Comics Extended Universe for a 2017 release. Jenkins was hired after the original director, Michelle MacLaren, left the project due to creative differences. After the success of Wonder Woman, Patty signed to return to direct, write, and produce Wonder Woman II

  • Jenkins was originally set to direct Thor: The Dark World, a Marvel Cinematic Universe film but dropped out due to creative differences, ironically similar to how she landed the Wonder Woman Director's job.
  • Jenkins was originally in talks with WB to direct Wonder Woman back in 2005, but due to her unexpected pregnancy, she had to step down. Jenkins claimed that Wonder Woman is the film she's been wanting to do her whole life.
  • Jenkins and original Wonder Woman Lynda Carter share a birthday.
  • After closing the deal with WB, with 2 1/2 months of negotiations over Wonder Woman II, Jenkins will officially be the highest paid female director in history.
    • Jenkins was paid 1 million for Wonder Woman, now for Wonder Woman II, she'll be paid 7-9 million including backends of the Box Office grosses when the film comes out.
