At some point in his life, Richard Flag Jr. joined the United States Armed Forces and rose to the ranks of Colonel.

Working for A.R.G.U.S.[]

As Rick progressed in the US Army, he became one of the finest Special Forces Officer's ever produced, earning numerous medals and honors. This brought him to the attention of Amanda Waller, Director of the covert government agency code named A.R.G.U.S. Flag was transferred into A.R.G.U.S.' services directly under Waller.

Following The Death of Superman, Director Waller began developing the idea of a Task Force X, a Suicide Squad of former criminals with specialist skills and Metahuman abilities to replace Superman as the protector of America.

On a mission in December 2015, Flag was tasked with hunting down Dr June Moone to be recruited into Task Force X. Tracking her to an apartment building, he encountered dead guards covered in symbols before finding Moone in the bathroom in a bath filled with black water and grass with more symbols on the walls.

Flag took Moone into A.R.G.U.S. custody where Waller assigned Flag to watch over Moone. Over the next few months, the two developed romantic feelings for each other and soon entered a relationship together.

One night in their apartment, June turned into Enchantress during her sleep so Rick pointed his gun at her and threatened to call Waller to kill her heart.
