Wonder Woman 1984 (also known as Wonder Woman 2) is an American superhero film based on the DC Comics character Wonder Woman. It is the ninth installment in the DC Comics' Extended Universe. The film is directed by Patty Jenkins; produced by Charles Roven, Deborah Snyder, Zack Snyder, Patty Jenkins, Stephen Jones, and Gal Gadot with Rebecca Roven, Richard Suckle, Wesley Coller, Geoff Johns, Walter Hamada, serving as executives; and written by Patty Jenkins, Geoff Johns, and Dave Callaham. It's produced and distributed by Warner Bros.

It was released exclusively on HBO Max on December 25, 2020 and released in theaters worldwide the same day.

After the critical and financial success of Wonder Woman, while being interviewed by Variety, Geoff Johns, Jon Berg, and WB Chief Toby Emmerich confirmed that the sequel is in the works. Geoff and Patty are also writing the story treatment. [1] [2] Wonder Woman II will officially come out on December 13, 2019. [3] Patty Jenkins returns to direct, write, and produce Wonder Woman II. [4] [5] Dave Callaham will co-write the script with Patty Jenkins and Geoff Johns. [6] [7] On November 13, 2017, Wonder Woman II, now titled Wonder Woman 1984 was announced to have moved from it’s December release up six weeks to November 1, 2019. [8] [9] [10] On February 28, 2018, Deadline reported that the film will take place during the Cold War in the 1980's, and Kristen Wiig is the top choice and is in talks to play the films villain, Cheetah. [11] [12] [13] On March 9, 2019, Patty Jenkins took to Twitter to announce that Wiig is officially signed on to play Cheetah. [14] On March 28, 2018, Pedro Pascal was announced to have joined the cast.[15] [16] [17] On June 13th, 2018, Patty Jenkins announced Chris Pine's return to the role as Steve Trevor. On July 25, 2018, Natasha Rothwell was announced to have joined the cast. [18] On July 23, 2018, Ravi Patel and Gabriella Wilde were announced to have joined the cast. [19] On August 22, 2018, Hans Zimmer was announced to be composing the film's score. [20] On September 1, 2018, Robin Wright and Connie Nielsen were reportedly comfirmed to reprise their as Antiope and Hippolyta for flashback sequences.[21] On November 22, 2018, Kristoffer Polaha was announced to have joined the cast. Filming[]

Filming for Wonder Woman 1984 will take place in London at Warner Bros. Studios, Leavesden. [23] Filming officially started June 13, 2018, in Alexandria, Virginia at the Landmark Mall under the working title Magic Hour. Filming will take place in Washington DC, Alexandria, Virginia, UK, Spain and the Canary Islands. On December 23, 2018, Gal Gadot announced on her social media via Instagram that filming had wrapped.
